Randall Carlson leaned out of the window of the Zeppelin, trying to grab the swinging rope the thugs from the League of Darkness had escaped by. The Zeppelin suddenly tilted to starboard, and Randall exited the window a bit more expeditiously than he had planned. Suddenly, all he could see was sky and the ground, and the ground was a long ways down. Forcing himself into a mid-air somersault, Carlson grabbed the rope as he sped past it. As he jerked to a halt, he realized that he was only about 20 feet above the airship being used by the League of Darkness for their escape, and that they were about to succeed in getting away with the Amulet of Atuth-Re. “What the heck, you only live once,” muttered Carlson as he aimed himself in the direction of the slowly moving airship and let go of the rope.
Welcome to the Chronicles of the Explorers Society.

This is a game of action, high adventure, exploration and fun. The setting is Earth, 1936.
However, there are a few differences from the world and history you may be familiar with. The United States is somewhat differently arranged than we know, most of the midwestern portion of North America having been ruled by a Confederation of Native tribes, called the Tribal Confederation up until 1930. Texas and California are independent republics; Czarist Russia controls much of the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii and is a parlimentary monarchy, along the lines of Great Britain. In Europe, the Ottoman Empire is still holding onto it’s power, albeit barely; Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany and then sacked when President von Hindenberg realized that he was a raving madman.
Trips to Venus and Mars have recently revealed life on both planets (although we knew about the Martians since they attacked us around the turn of the Century). The moon is a dead place, but once held an apparently advanced civilization. Much of the Earth is also still unexplored. Opportunities for adventure, fame and glory abound in this world.
Your characters are all members of the Explorer’s Society, a privately funded “club” with members and chapters all around the world. Founded in 1845 by Charles Babbage, Lord Blackstone, Mandrake von Hammell, Sir Richard Burton, H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, Robert E. Lee, Sam Clemens and Professor Harrison Challenger; the Explorer’s Society was established to have a supporting staff for those interested in exploration and adventure.
The pages of this wiki will detail the world of 1936 as seen by the Explorer’s Society. Grab your Fedora, whip and dice and prepare to face the minions of Darkness and discover lost lands and great treasures.
